چکیده

Rip current is a type of wave-inducing that forms nearshore and flows towards the sea. It major global hazard in marine environment had claimed lives hundreds people due to drowning recorded thousands rescue missions around world. In Malaysia, Pahang coastline over 30 cases rip currents from 2006 2018. However, studies on especially east coast Peninsular Malaysia are very limited. Therefore, this study was conducted classify beach morphodynamics associated with formations during southwest monsoon (SWM) northeast (NEM) along coastline. Five recreational beaches were selected coastline, namely Balok (B1), Batu Hitam (B2), Teluk Cempedak (B3), Sepat (B4), Air Leleh (B5) as site. Sediment samples profile collected for both monsoonal seasons. found composed rip-dominant intermediate several categorised barred (B), low tide terrace (LTTR), bar (LTBR). As known dominated beaches, most at be different risk level such high (B3 B5), moderate (B1 B2) mixed (B4). The findings provide useful insights coastal management planning development safety event an emergency related current.

Relationships between sand and water quality at recreational beaches.

Enterococci are used to assess the risk of negative human health impacts from recreational waters. Studies have shown sustained populations of enterococci within sediments of beaches but comprehensive surveys of multiple tidal zones on beaches in a regional area and their relationship to beach management decisions are limited. We sampled three tidal zones on eight South Florida beaches in Miami...

Tidal forcing of enterococci at marine recreational beaches at fortnightly and semidiurnal frequencies.

Marine beach water quality is typically monitored in early morning once a week without respect to tidal condition. To assess the effect of tide on this public health warning system, we analyzed enterococci (ENT) data from 60 southern California marine beaches with differing geomorphology, orientation, and proximity to runoff sources. ENT concentrations during spring tides were significantly hig...

RCEX: Rip Current Experiment

The long-term goals are to understand surf zone processes related to rip current systems through field observations. Rip currents occur commonly on most beaches and dominate many. It is recognized that beaches with straight and parallel contours are not a stable morphologic configuration whereas more complex beaches, which support the existence of rip current morphology, are stable and more com...
